Video based Automated Cattle Weighing System

Summary: This project will develop a prototype system serving as a proof of concept for video based automated cattle weighing. The automated system aims to provide a convenient and non-intrusive method for estimating the weight of cattle without disrupting their normal routines. This system can be considered an add-on to normal cattle weighing prototype system. This project will focus on feedlots for data collection and weighing algorithm development under the scenario of cattle walking through a race. The envisioned application will link to set up a camera system near a water point in Northern Australia. In this project, our focus is on technology development by collecting the video data from saleyards, or feedlots or cattle properties, which will be used to train the UTS video analytics system for cattle weighing.
