Summary: This project aims to design, build and tests components of a semi-autonomous wool bioharvesting system, covering steps from wool removal through to bailing and involves XX main components: (1) design of a biologically weakened wool removal mechanism that is admissible to automation (2) sheep handling system to aid automation of wool removal (3) wool inspection system that identifies contaminants in wool and fibre characteristics for classification of fleece (4) wool pressing and bailing system. The project is focusing on semi-automation due to high variability of animals and field conditions requiring some human activities and expertise, especially in assisting restraining sheep in preparation for wool removal and collecting representative fibre strains that will be used for classification of the fleece.
