Water Quality Project Extension
Start year: 2024
Summary: The funding supports field-based investigations of emerging contaminants and their impacts on the lower foodweb in estuarine and coastal environments. Our research translation pathway involves engaging with stakeholders (including policy officers within the federal government), building a trusted partnership, reporting our findings and sharing their implications in plain English through a range of communication types. The intended impact is to provide an evidence base to the federal government about environmental risks of contaminants, to help inform an approach for regulating water quality in estuarine and coastal waters around Australia. This will not only have environmental, but also cultural, social and financial benefits. The impact-driven approach aligns with the UTS Research Strategy and UTS 2027 Strategy to sustain our local and global environment, organisational health and our ability to create a positive, viable future.
