Next-generation quantum spectroscopy diagnostic platforms for heart disease

Start year: 2024

Summary: This project aims to advance heart disease diagnostics by employing quantum Mid-IR spectroscopy for highly sensitive detection of cardiovascular disease biomarkers like troponin, NT-proBNP and C-reactive protein non-invasively in fluids, and in tissues. Utilizing entangled photon pairs, the technology will significantly enhance diagnostic precision and speed. Our objective is to develop a compact, portable diagnostic device that outperforms current methods by enabling faster, and more accurate detection at lower costs. By simplifying and speeding up the detection process, this project has the potential to greatly reduce healthcare burdens and improve patient outcomes. This innovation promises to make sophisticated diagnostics accessible in diverse settings, including remote areas, enhancing Australia's capability in medical technology and offering substantial public health benefits.
